Especially when it is forbidden for the baby to fall o! (if they do you must run naked round the market!) "I'm an African woman so I use my wrapper to tie my baby and I make sure I tie it very well!" explains Mrs Tade James. "And if i see that he's not comfortable the way I'm tying him, I tell someone close to me to assist me." (Nigeria Baby) How-to carry your baby (African style!) ... find out here! There are rules attached to backing a baby at the early stage - "Your baby's hands must be inside, so that the neck can stay very well," explains another mother. Follow step by step JPMBB explanations to understand how to do the Front Carry Double Hammock style (from PWCC) in the JPMBB baby wrap. If you follow the explanations step by step, you’ll find: - The different steps, techniques and placement of the sling - The differences between the belly with classic belly and that of the "double hammock" - How to change your position to breastfeed This position respects the natural flare of the baby's back and is suitable for an infant. It offers a pleasant contact with the baby and allows the wrapper to have his hands free. In this video, we used the "Original" wrap but you can use other JPMBB Baby wraps like the BASIC. By educational choice, the videos of Je Porte Mon Bébé are made with real babies. We want to show you a realistic use of the wra...

This is one of the manta carries that is used in Peru (there are others, including one where the baby ends up in a lying position). Generally, it is better to lay the manta down on the bed and put the baby on top and bring that triangle point up but as you can see, it can be done in arms as well.
Gertrude from Shigamani Village (one of the projects we are involved with) taught our team participants how the ladies in her community, as well as in other parts of Africa, carry babies. Many of them carry their children for many miles while they carry water buckets on their heads and bags in their arms at the same time. They also work in construction or other activities while the babies are on their back. We appreciate these strong women and all that they do for their children. #WomanOfAfrica

'Infant' in this case refers to newborns and really small babies who are still "curled up" in a foetal position. The idea is to maintain that curled up position and not spread the feet out too much. We therefore keep the baby's legs inside the wrap. As your baby starts to stretch out its legs you can take the legs out as shown in the video for carrying older babies. Some babies are ready at 2weeks old but most will stretch out at 1month to a month and a half. If you are carrying a PRE-TERM baby, please consult with your medical team on how to best take advantage of your wrap for Kangaroo Care. You can use the wrap to carry your baby on your bare chest. In this case you will have to put the baby in the pocket but ease them partially out so that their skin touches your skin. You should h...
This is my Mum putting my one year old baby on her back using a traditional Chinese Mei Tai. This method does not require any tying of knots, just twists and tucks. It is very quick to get on and off. She starts with baby on the bed and her kneeling on the floor. This gets baby high up on her back right at the start. Visit snugglez.co.nz for more information and to view our selection of Mei Tais.

It looks like a micro-car. It rides like an electric-assist bike. The ELF (“electric, light, fun”) is a solar car-bike hybrid that will keep you out of the rain, or from breaking a sweat, and perhaps convince you to jettison your car for all those trips around town (and to get into shape while you’re at it). Inspired by solar/human-powered aircraft pioneer Paul MacCready, decades ago Rob Cotter began experimenting with human-powered vehicles. He left a job at Porsche to consult though things slowed down in the nineties when ”people were more interested in minivans and SUVs and things.” He decided the moment had arrived when, at the end of the nineties he began consulting for the New York City bike sharing, “and realized that if NYC’s putting in about 300 miles of new bike trails there’s...

I think I finally know what I want
I want to be two places at once
I want to stretch until I spill
And fall back graciously into the wind
Part of the problem is nothing is true
And nothing has happened at all
You used to let me see your yellow wings, wings, wings
